Janet is a fifth generation native of Waterford and has practiced real estate brokerage from 1988 to 2007 from the company she owned and founded in 1988, Truman Properties. For 19 years, she managed, trained and was the designated broker for her agency. Before coming back home to Waterford in 1988, Janet practiced and managed real estate in New Hampshire and was also licensed in Massachusetts. While there she received the Rookie of the Year award and was a consistent member of the Million Dollar Clubs. She earned her GRI designation in 1987, was selected as Realtor of the Year in 1992 for the Western Maine Board of Realtors. She is a past President of the Western Maine Board of Realtors. Janet was an involved participant in the early comprehensive planning stages of the Maine Real Estate Information System (MREIS), known as the Statewide Multiple Listing Service. She is a past State President of MREIS and has served as a member of the Board of Directors since its beginning through 2006. The on-going preservation of her historic home town of Waterford is very important to her. She served as Chairperson of the Planning Board for several years. She also participated in the completion of Comprehensive Plans and Town Ordinances. Janet has a great deal of experience in the marketing and selling of period homes and has enjoyed renovating and decorating her own 1830 farmhouse.

Interests
Other interests have included: Elk and Lion hunting in Montana, hiking, snowshoeing, tennis, home decorating, spending time at home with family, shopping trips w/grand-daughters and visiting dear friends in Montana at their cattle ranch.
